I needed a succesfull stay somewhere in Morocco to compensate for all the things I did not like here untill now.
Agadir seemed the place to be for me !
I had booked a nice appartment per email.
Prepayment isn't necessary in Morocco since they don't use digital money,
except in supermarkets and at international oriented companies.
I explained I would stay several nights "if the price was right"
and made a deal to pay Dh 150 (€ 15) per night instead of Dh 250.
All appartments were oriented to the fully enclosed garden so it was very quiet there.
And Hot 💯.
However the couches were terrible to sit on
and in the "kitchen" one could prepare tea.
And coffee.
And a sandwich.
But I could wash my socks 👀 in the bathroom.
To compensate for this luxury there was no curtain for the shower so the entire bathroomfloor was very wet all the time.
All the time then there was no ventilation at all ...
My stay here in Agadir would be the crucial point of No or Yes continue south to the real Africa or return to Europe.
Morocco had disappointed me so far and besides that I knew from other blogs that the situation
would even be (far) more negative in the next countries to come 💥.
One evening I made a walk and saw this mosque that was beautifully lighted.
A man approached me and made clear it was no problem at all to take pictures.
Also not from the interior.
After some hesitation I did take some although I did not enter.
He then made clear we should visit a certain cafe were I should buy some drinks for him.
I refused that and explained him I would not pay him anything for a "service" this simple.
Pffuuuhhhh .....
Somewhat later I saw this mosque.
Without people hanging around.
However I was not in the mood anymore to walk over there.
Another friend might would show up and another discussion might would start.
In Morocco one can not buy alcoholic products since shops are not allowed to sell them.
Unless you are maybe having a "friend", like maybe to the king & co, and have an official permit for your shop.
The king is shareholder of some big supermarkets that do sell alcohol.
A matter of (moslim ?) principle that is.
Just next to my appartment were two shops selling alcohol and I have no idea how they are allowed to.
Not having a fridge anyway I went over to one to buy a bottle of whiskey.
When I returned a man followed me and "was my friend" within one minute or so.
During the second minute he explained a relative of his needed medicins and I should follow him
to a pharmacy to buy those and pay for them.
When I refused the next second he got angry.
The next day I spoke to a dromedary about these situations but even (s)he was not enthousiastic.
But are they ever ?
However I am not really sure since I speak some french but the dromedary spoke only arabic 😁.
Agadir has a beautiful and very long beach.
And as usual the direct surroundings are well maintained.
Only the direct surroundings since that is where the tourists (only) stay.
And Agadir has a famous hill that is actually (only) about the ruins of Oufella, an old castle that was destroyed
by an earthquake a long time ago.
And ruins it are.
Just a (1) wall is left.
And 100+ irritating sellers and cameldrivers that try to get on your money.
Then all touristcars that visit Agadir also visit this hill and wall.
I was very lucky since in the half hour I was here no bus tourists showed up.
Two busses rode down when I climbed up and one climbed up when I raced down 👅.
From that hill you have a Superb View at the beach, the town and the harbours.
And talking about fishingboats.
Are they actually being used ?
How do fishermen get their boat out of that jam ???
And also on that hill I spotted Haga, and he made me smile !
He was just as curious as I was, and now we are friends 👍.
I visited the boulevard several times, also at night.
Every evening it was very lively there, and I suppose it is even more since it now is ramadan-time.
And there are even restaurants that serve real beer !
For western european prices that is.
I could easily install my
Panasonic FZ1000 camera 🖱️
in the enclosed garden of my appartmentbuilding to do some timelapse jobs.
However that was not that easy this time !
Certain flowers did not open every day, they were tricking me !
How can that be ???
And ofcourse I went to the souk.
To my opinion this one in Agadir is the best I have seen and been in.
It has quite some variation concerning products.
And it is big and the paths are wide so you can easily move here.
However, the boutchers got angry when they saw me taking pictures.
These pictures complete the impression about Agadir.
Contradictions are enormous ...

I had travelled the 500kms from Casablanca to Agadir by bus.
But despite the more positive aspects here in Agadir I still had to make up my mind.
Will I continue south to the real Africa or Not ?
For me Agadir was a positive exception in Morocco.
So an exception.
Further to the south it would be More and More chaotic, filthy, slippery, corrupt, expensive (!), annoying and dangerous.
And I would be in all that for a very² long² time² if I would cycle, and for a very long time using any other transport.
What to do ?
